i've been walking in the same, missing all the cracks in the pavement.

so i'm sitting here listening to adele and i'm looking outside and the leaves are changing colors. and it's getting colder.

and i'm happy for that.

H&M

H&freakingM

so i'm always on lookbook.nu looking at outfits
and like 99.9% of the time someone has something originating from this store
and now they will possibly be in raleigh if everything works.
why raleigh? i don't know.
i would prefer charlotte but regardless it's coming and i'm excited, nonetheless.

strange fruit

so i'm taking a jazz intro course and we're talking about billie holiday.
so he plays strange fruit and the entire class gets quiet
mind you this class is like a 300 plus lecture.
i had never heard this - only the group strange fruit project
shows how much i know - but this is amazing.
please please please go and watch strange fruit
billie holliday is utterly amazing.
however she didn't write this - lewis allen did.
give credit where credit's due.
-
Southern trees bear strange fruit,
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root,
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze,
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.
Pastoral scene of the gallant south,
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth,
Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh,
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh.
Here is fruit for the crows to pluck,
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck,
For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop,
Here is a strange and bitter crop.

if all of the raindrops were lemon drops and gum drops oh what a rain that would be.

it's raining so this song is on repeat

in a sentimental mood - john coltrane and duke ellington <3

and your very flesh shall be a great poem - walt whitman

okay.
this is serious.
i have no intentions of writing a novel but i need to vent a bit.
i've loved maxwell since forever.
pre-fro & post-fro i've have an unadulterated love for maxwell.
knowing good and well in middle school i had no idea what he was singing about.
because everyone told me it was grown folk music - pssh.
anywho, he's coming to charlotte and i'll be in chapel hill.
i'll be twohoursandtwentyfourminutes & onehundredandfouronepointninetyfourmiles away
from maxwell.
no bueno.
so i'm basking in my own self pity because i won't see him.
shoot, i'd be happy if he replied to one of my tweets. yep, it's that serious.
so until i see him in concert the next time he comes around i'll be listening to his greatest hits
and watching his performances on reruns of daytime tv shows.
this is pitiful

some girl is in danger of having her hair swept behind her ear

one word: zombielanddd.
pleasantly surprised. i would recommend this.
usually i'm a blockbuster rental person - still am.
though i saw it for free at our student union i would see it again.
yep - it was that funny.
time to nut up or shut up

Whatcha doin', Janie? I'm watchin' God.

so i'm reading jubilee. i don't want to.
what i want to do is read their eyes were watching god - again
not watch it because the movie paled in comparison to the book.
like freaking casper the friendly ghost pale.
but the pictures were just too beautiful to resist.
